Tulips Photographs from Longwood Gardens

I was off work on Monday since I drove home from my parent's house where I spent the weekend so I could attend a party welcoming my new nephew Andrew that my sister and brother-in-law just adopted from South Korea.  He is 2 years old and the half brother of my niece, who was adopted from South Korea 4 years ago.  Anyways…So I had most of the afternoon free after I arrived back to my house and decided to head over to Longwood Gardens to check out the tulips.  It was a very sunny afternoon, and busier than I thought it would be for a Monday.  I took a lot of photographs, but wasn't entirely happy with a lot of them.  I thought the exposure compensation should have been adjusted more for the sun.  So I decided to go back early this morning, before the clouds and wind rolled in and before it got too crowded.  I accomplished both of those goals, and got some awesome photos today!!  Enjoy!!

I hope you enjoyed these photographs as much as I did taking them!!  Happy Early Mother's Day to all the special Mom's out there!!

Until next time.

Longwood Gardens Orchid Festival Photographs

So it's been a while since I visited Longwood Gardens.  I didn't renew my membership when it expired last spring, and I spent the year finding other places to photograph.  But I decided that it was time to renew my membership and head back.  It's one of my favorite places to visit to relax, renew, and photograph.  Their annual Orchid Festival started last weekend, so it was the perfect time to return for a visit.  Orchids are some of my favorite flowers.  I even splurged and bought a little one from their gif shop.  We'll see if I can keep it alive.  I went early in the morning right after they opened before it got busy.  It was perfect because there was hardly anyone there!!  No one to ruin my photographs!!  Hope you enjoy the photographs I took today.

I think I might buy a little greenhouse for the little orchid I bought since I keep my house so cool in the winter.  Hopefully that will keep it a little warmer.  I'll let you know how it goes.  I hope you enjoyed these photographs.  Hopefully they'll be many more to come this year since I renewed my membership.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday Everyone!!

Until next time...

Late Winter Day at Longwood Gardens

Last weekend the temperature was in the 60s and I enjoyed a Sunday afternoon at Longwood Gardens.  When I went for the Orchid Festival a couple of weeks ago, I didn't walk around outside too much since the weather was cool and windy.  So I decided to enjoy a nice late winter walk around the gardens. Even in winter there are interesting photographs to take.  I skipped the Conservatory this time around since I was just there a couple of weeks ago and nothing has changed yet.

The "knees" of this tree are important to anchor it in it's swampy environment.
And it made for an interesting photograph.

Late winter trees overlooking the large lake.

I thought this trees trunk looked interesting.

A little unexpected pop of color!  A purple crocus!

Pathway along the main fountain garden

Interesting architecture in the main fountain garden.
You can really see all the detail without the water.

Late winter witch hazel blooming.

I hope you enjoyed my latest photographs.  Right now I'm working on a couple of tulle wreaths I'm making for an online auction my sister is hosting to raise funds for their 3rd adoption, a little boy from South Korea (who is actually the half brother of a little girl they already adopted from South Korea).  I'll post pictures once they're finished along with the info about the auction once I find it out.

Until next time...

Orchid Festival Photographs

So I went to one of my favorite places to take photograph's this morning, Longwood Gardens.  It's a wonderful botanical garden that has an amazing Conservatory to enjoy even when it's cold out, like right now.  They are in the midst of an Orchid Festival right now, and orchids happen to be one of my favorite flowers.  Too bad I don't have a green enough thumb to actually be able to grow them.  But I enjoyed my morning there taking pictures, especially since I haven't had time to take many in the past couple of months.

The gorgeous yellow of these just screams "Spring is coming!!".

If a cheetah turned purple and morphed into an orchid, it would look like this.

So gorgeous.  An arch covered with orchids.

Looking pretty in pink.

One of my favorite color combinations, purple and yellow.  Such an interesting little flower.

This one is my absolute favorite!!

I just thought this one looked interesting with the long stems and pointed flower petals.

I hope you enjoyed my photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them!!  Until next time...
